"The deaf adder stoppeth her ears, and will not hearken to the voice of the charmer, charm he never so wisely.”
Not my fault that I am quoting lines out of Psalms. It is the mere co-incidence of the spirit of obduracy portrayed by above citation that meets a real life situation here in India and inspires me. Didn't get me? Simply substitute deaf adder with Somnath Chatterjee and the charmer with Karat, Yechuri et al and the scenario that emerges is strikingly similar.
It so appears to us that Mr. Somnath Chatterjee, Hon'able Speaker, Lok Sabha, is intent on giving an average mule or llama a fair run for its money. Leaders of the red red left are seeing red, what with their illustrious comrade refusing to march shoulder to shoulder with them against the UPA and MMS.
Reliable sources have informed us that the Left's current motto is 'The more the merrier' and predictably so, too. Under such circumstances, Chatterjee's refusal to budge from his perch has been an irksome setback for the Leftists. Almost like a naughty child refusing to behave in front of papa's boss. Though of course this is only the left side of the coin. Congress and its allies are loving it - considering that the Race for Trust is likely to end in a photo-finish, even the temporary assurance of one anti-vote less is truly Santa's gift.
Well, well. As the archetypal masala Bollywood flick of 'Who will rule India' runs to packed houses all across the nation, this sub-plot of 'When will the Speaker quit' is also intriguing one quite a bit. Lets all wait. And watch. And comment.
